A question I keep asking myself again and again is, does everything really have a purpose? In my failure to answer this question, I have been left feeling as if nothing really matters but is that really true? I don't believe it is or else I would have or should have stopped trying to answer that question a long time ago. There must be purpose otherwise, why are we still here? Why is anything here? Do we have to be perfect in order to have purpose?

The definition of perfect is: conforming absolutely to the description or definition of an ideal type. This tells me of a self-dictated desire to be a certain way or to have a certain purpose. This does not refer to all purpose however so in conclusion to that question I must assume that you don't have to be perfect to have a purpose. What that doesn't tell me though is whether or not everything does have a purpose.

My next question is, if I were never to exist, would it change the world? I wonder if anyone who pondered suicide ever thought this. After all, without purpose, is there even a reason for being alive or are we alive but somehow dead? I could probably go on and on with questions, going deeper and deeper like a scientist trying to find what makes up skin cells, molecules, then atoms and who knows what else is behind that, perhaps string theory. I wonder if then the answer to my question is too deep to dive into.

Perhaps it's just best if I stop where I am and be content with the answer, "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son." That is the answer, isn't it? God loves us and so we have purpose. He gave us life so that we may live it. I'm simply left with the question, why must I know more?
